The Easiest Way to Hang a Floating Shelf

Follow these simple steps to hang your own floating wood shelf!

At Cottage + Key we are beginning to gradually replace some of our summer decor with fall pieces as we transition into early fall. This way, we can savor the summer vibes a bit longer but also begin to welcome decor that matches the cooler weather hopefully soon to come. Here are some of the tips we follow to bring in a little bit of fall as we begin to leave summer behind us.

  1. Warm Wood Tones: Incorporate warmer wood tones by adding wooden bowls, trays, or candleholders to your decor. Darker woods like mahogany, walnut, or cherry can give your space a rich and inviting feel.

2. Creamy Whites: Replace bright white accents with creamy or off-white items. This softer shade pairs beautifully with warm colors and adds a touch of elegance to your decor.

3. Dark Bronze and Iron: Consider incorporating dark bronze or iron accents through decorative items like picture frames, candleholders, or even furniture hardware. These metals can lend a touch of sophistication and contrast to your space.

4. Fall Foliage: Don’t forget to bring in some natural elements from the outdoors. Fall foliage, such as dried leaves, branches, or pinecones, can be used in vases or as part of table centerpieces to enhance the seasonal feel.

5. Cozy Textiles: Swap out your summer linens and pillows for warmer textiles like knitted or faux fur throws and plush cushions in autumnal colors such as deep reds, oranges, and browns.

6. Candles and Candleholders: Candles in fall scents like cinnamon, pumpkin spice, or apple cider, placed

Remember that you don’t have to completely overhaul your decor. Making subtle changes by incorporating these elements can give your home that perfect fall touch while still maintaining a cohesive design. Enjoy creating a warm and cozy atmosphere for the season!
